Werk It!

What?  

Werk It! is self-triggering automaton made from found objects, basic electronic components, an Arduino microcontroller, a custom 3D printed cam, and a Cinderella Barbie.

Why?

This piece compares and questions the subservient, monotonous societal roles traditionally expected from women, with that of robots.

How?

The 'kitbashed' structure of the sculpture and the mechanism were developed in response to one another over the span of the project. The different components had to be finely adjusted to create a fragile balance which would enable the perpetual action.
