My Heart Beats Like a Drum is inspired by rhythms of life; communicating rhythm through light, sound, and haptic feedback. The artwork broadens accessibility to electronic music hardware through a multisensory experience, allowing the user to sequence a drum rhythm through a circle of eight tactile buttons that illuminate when triggered. Vibration speakers also resonate the portable box, encouraging users to feel the sound with their body through touch.

The piece was designed in response to, and refined through a series of a audiovisual therapy and play sessions held in schools and art galleries across Scotland.
