Constellations

Constellations is the result of a commission from Glasgow Life for the 2025 Christmas Lighting Trail.
The 15 minute show centres around themes of time, light, connection and peace.

This project was inspired by nature's own light show; the sky. Although Glasgow has very short days in the winter, we are treated to long vibrant sunsets, followed by crisp clear nights which reveal the ocean of stars above. Constellations traces this celestial procession through the choreography of lights over the Concert Hall. I wanted to bring that feeling of peace, serenity, awe and inspiration to the city center at a time which can feel very busy and a wee bit bleak.

Stars are simultaneously ancient, futuristic, and spiritual- we look up with hope and faith at the same glimmering lights that inspired and guided our ancestors before us. This theme of past, present and future also reflects Glasgow as it celebrates 850 years- a city not only known for its friendly people, but also for our pursuit of innovation and culture.
