My name is Domme Ewan. I am a creative technologist—this means that I use technology in creative ways! I graduated in Interaction Design at Glasgow School of Art in 2023 and have been a professional VJ (Video Jockey), motion designer, and digital artist for ten years, creating live responsive visuals at events, music videos, and GIF art.
My art blends digital and physical realms and realities through interactive installations, augmented artefacts, optics and light, live video glitching, experimental games, spatial experiences, and more. I want to engage people, make things which couldn't have been made five years ago, and platform dialogues surrounding the impacts of technology on us, our culture, and the world around us. My practice explores themes such as networks and communities, avatars and identity, toys and tools, broadcast and communication, spatial and sensory interfaces.
*talk about freelance work* - 3D + Special FX, Immersive Branding for events, graphic design.
I have been working as a Studio Assistant and play therapy facilitator, artist/designer, and technician at Soundplay Projects since my residency with them in 2023. We deliver immersive, interactive, audiovisual sessions at our Playspace in Glasgow, in ASN/SEN schools, arts spaces, theatres, and museums. Sessions focus on music, sound, light and interaction—celebrating and encouraging fundamental elements of play: exploration, experimentation, and communication.
I run various workshops including; creative coding for beginners—introducing people to core aspects of Javascript and computing in an accessible, fun manner (dancing breaks, minigames); Mini Light Sculptures where participants learn about electronics and design by creatively using pipecleaners and LEDs ; VJing workshops at Site Gallery in Sheffield for their Society of Explorers youth group and to the public, based on a visuals “battle” with two different visual stations—but only one soundtrack.
